Klaus Tree Gets Help

We give thanks to the combined efforts of three Georgia groups interested in preserving native trees, GaTACF, The Ga Botanical Society and the Pine Mountain Trail Association.  All worked together to bring scaffolding to the "Klaus" tree in the FDR State Park on Saturday.  The timing was perfect as it coincided with the Bot Soc's Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage which took place all around Pine Mountain.  Without the wonderful work of these groups, it would have taken days to get the scaffold to the tree.

Due to an AP article by Elliott Minor (Read news story here)  about the tree which was picked up nationwide, many people came to see this rare Piedmont specimen.  The Macon Telegraph also printed another article about the efforts of TACF.  Fox News sent a camera crew and reporter to cover the event.  Georgia Public Broadcasting is also doing an entire feature on the pollination of the tree and will cover the entire process into the fall. Nathan Klaus the "tree finder" was also interviewed by NPR on their "All Things Considered" show. The article also appeared in these, as well as many other TV stations, publications and websites even to Cape Town, South Africa.
