Board Meeting, March 12, 2005, Berry College Campus

A short meeting was held on March 12, 2005 in order to vote upon 3 issues facing the Board of Directors.   Board Members present: Donald Davis, Jim Hill, Carolyn Hill, Dianne Smith, Jerry Smith, and Mark Stallings.

  1. A standardized format and number of issues per year for the Chapter Newsletter

*      Because of the time expense of sending out 4 newsletters a year as stated in our bylaws, it was the vote of the board to decrease the number to 3 a year – April, mid-summer, and September.  This amendment to the bylaws will be voted upon at the annual meeting.

  1. David Keehn can acquire a good copy machine for under $500 in order to print the newsletter “in house”.  The board approved the expenditure.
  2. The slate of Executive Board members, as recommended by the nominating committee, was announced and approved as follows:

*      Mark Stallings – President

*      David Keehn – Vice President

*      Carolyn Hill  – Secretary

*      Diane Smith – Treasurer

*      Tom Pachinger

*      Donald Davis

*      Jim Hill

*      Jerry Smith

*      Dr Phillip Greer – Honorary

*      Mary Belle Price - Honorary

The next Board Meeting (open to all members and guests) will be held on April 2 at the Conasauga Room at Dalton State College from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The meeting room is in the main building on campus behind the flag pole.  Paul Cisco and Hill Craddock will be in attendance to make sure we have a clear agenda for our pollination efforts.

Following the meeting, those interested will take a quick trip to Prater's Mill to look at the site of a small demonstration planting.  Diane Smith is looking into having Hill Craddock bring trees for that planting and Jerry Smith is working with the staff of Prater’s Mill Committee to oversee the site.

The board was reminded that the annual meeting must be publicized no less than 30 days prior.  All articles must be to David Keehn as soon as possible in order for him to postmark the newsletter by May 4th.
